Treeswift empowers energy companies to modernize field work to meet growing demand and challenges. We build physical AI for field workers—engineers, linemen, and vegetation crews—enabling 10x productivity through cutting-edge hardware, sensors (LiDAR, camera), AI, and software. Since our first pilot in June 2024, we’ve partnered with three of the five largest U.S. utilities, helping reduce wildfire risk, regulatory and outage risks, construction delays, and storm recovery times. Backed by leading investors like Penny Pritzker’s Inspired Capital, we’re a team of mission-driven experts from top institutions (Penn, Caltech, CMU) and companies (Palantir, Stripe, Oracle, MongoDB). Headquartered in midtown Manhattan with offices in San Francisco and Philadelphia, we’re accelerating growth and seeking deeply curious, ambitious individuals to build the future of field work.

About the Role

As a Senior Robotics Engineer, you will drive outcomes in perception, mapping, sensor fusion, and calibration to directly support business expansion. Priorities include:

  • Improving product quality and consistency across diverse operating conditions, such as leading SLAM development with new sensor evolutions and enhancing performance in GPS-degraded environments.
  • Accelerating time to delivery by advancing sensor fusion and calibration, including fusing multi-user, multi-session point cloud maps and automating alignment of LiDAR and imagery data for large-scale scenes.
  • Enhancing scalability and reliability by eliminating field-based extrinsic measurements for vehicle sensors and improving early detection/correction of data quality issues.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in robotics perception.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment; ability to collaborate and develop independent opinions.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Extensive experience developing SLAM solutions, ideally with ground-based LiDAR.
  • Experience with extrinsic and intrinsic sensor calibration, including automated data-driven methods.
  • Prior experience with ultra-wide angle cameras (nice-to-have).

Skills

  • Mission-first: Focused on delivering the best outcomes for customers and the business.
  • Curiosity: Continuously learning from peers and customers; adaptable to new insights.
  • Owners mindset: Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for improvement, regardless of role.

Benefits
