About the Role
We're looking for current PhD students with a passion for robotic research and applications to join us as Robotics Applied Scientist II Intern/Co-ops in 2026 to shape the future of robotics and automation at an unprecedented scale. Our Robotics teams at Amazon are looking for students with a specialization in one or more of the research areas in robotics such as: robotics, robotics manipulation (e.g., robot arm, grasping, dexterous manipulation, end of arm tools/end effector), autonomous mobile robots, mobile manipulation, movement, autonomous navigation, locomotion, motion/path planning, controls, perception, sensing, robot learning, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, large language models, human-robot interaction, robotics simulation, optimization, and more. We're looking for curious minds who think big and want to define tomorrow's technology.

Basic Qualifications
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
- Must be eligible for and available for full-time (40 hours per week) internship in person based out of the assigned office location for the whole duration of the internship/co-op
- At least 1 year of relevant academic research or industry experience within Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Optimization, Manipulation, Perception, Motion Planning and Controls, Movement, Autonomous Navigation, Path Planning, or related
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related
Preferred Qualifications
- Publication(s) at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
- Ability to develop system prototypes
- Demonstrated ability to work on collaborative and cross-functional teams
- Drive to see a project through from research concept to working prototype
- Strong algorithm development experience
- A working knowledge of analysis of algorithms and computational complexity
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art algorithms in field of expertise
- Excellent creative problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

Schedule
- Full-time positions, Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8am-5pm
- Internship durations of 3 to 6+ months
