About the role

The CFA, under the supervision of the RN/Physician, is an integral member of the surgical team. The CFA facilitates the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the objective procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instruments and equipment to provide services to surgical patients.
  • Functions in all traditional duties of a scrub assistant under the direct supervision of the RN.

Qualifications

  • Education required: High School/GED. Successful completion of a Scrub Tech program. Successful completion of a First Assistant Program.
  • Maintains certification as conferred by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • Healthcare provider BLS is required within the orientation period.

  • Previous Scrub Assistant experience required.
