About Rex.zone Rex.zone builds technology-driven recruiting and talent solutions. This role supports robotics teams by delivering production-ready controls capabilities that improve robot performance, safety, and reliability. About The Role As a Robot Controls Engineer, you will design and tune control algorithms that drive robot behavior, including motion control, feedback control, state estimation, and trajectory tracking. You will validate performance via simulation, HIL testing, and on-robot experiments to ensure safe, stable, and repeatable results. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and tune feedback controllers (PID; LQR/MPC where applicable)Develop trajectory generation and trajectory tracking pipelinesBuild state estimation using sensor fusion and filtering (e.g., Kalman filters)Integrate controls with embedded and real-time constraints (latency, jitter, compute limits)Validate controller performance in simulation and on hardware using structured test plansCollaborate on sensor/actuator integration, calibration, and bring-upDefine safety interlocks and fault-handling behaviors aligned with robotics safety requirementsDocument control parameters, tuning procedures, and test results Required Qualifications Mid-Senior experience in robot controls or control systems engineeringStrong fundamentals in control theory, robotics dynamics/kinematics, and state estimationProficiency in C/C++ and/or Python for controls implementation and toolingExperience with real-time systems and performance profiling for control loopsHands-on experience with sensors and actuators (encoders, IMUs, motors, servo drives)Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 or comparable robotics middleware Remote Work This is a Remote, full-time role based in the US, collaborating via documentation, code reviews, and regular planning sessions. Apply with examples of systems you have tuned, control-loop frequencies, test methods, and measurable stability/tracking improvements.
