About the role

You’ll take part in the design of roadway improvements and new construction from start to finish, including layout, calculations, construction plan production, bid quantities, and cost estimates on all types of transportation projects for a broad range of local, county, and state transportation infrastructure projects. The selected candidate must be self-motivated and will be responsible for work including geometric studies, report writing, preliminary and final engineering, drainage design, and other related efforts.

This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual to develop transportation design and production skills and to assist in the growth of the transportation engineering practice within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Design roadway improvements and new construction projects from concept through completion
  • Perform geometric studies and prepare reports
  • Conduct preliminary and final engineering tasks
  • Design drainage systems
  • Produce construction plans, bid quantities, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate in a team setting to deliver PS&E (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 5–10 years’ experience in roadway design preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • ADOT project experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of roadway drafting and design software such as Bentley MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
  • Detail-oriented with a professional attitude
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication, and writing skills
  • Self-starter with a desire to learn
