Roads Operator (Permanent Full-Time)
About the role
The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking up to three positive, team-oriented, professional individuals to join our Aquatics team in September 2026 and support the aquatics programming at the Wescast Community Complex Pool.
Responsibilities
- Planning, implementing, and delivering swimming lessons
- Providing safe and enjoyable drop-in aquatic programs
- Maintaining proper pool records in accordance with Ontario Health Regulations
Requirements
- Current National Lifeguard, LSS Swim Instructors, and Standard First Aid with CPR C & AED
- Experience planning and conducting LSS Swim Program, guarding busy recreational swims, and working with adults, children, and youth of various ages and abilities
- Valid/Current Vulnerable Sector check required
- One (1) year's experience as an Assistant Instructor Lifeguard
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
Pay
Rate of Pay: Band 2 ($18.28 -$23.22 per hour)
Schedule
Part-time, up to 30 hours per week (there are a variety of shifts available including daytime, evening, and weekend)
About the role
The Township of North Huron is seeking a Permanent Full-Time Roads Operator to assist with the operations of the Public Works Department.
Responsibilities
The Roads Operator is responsible for performing a variety of public works related tasks in both rural and urban settings within the Township of North Huron, including repair and maintenance of municipal roads, sidewalks, parking lots, culverts, storm and sanitary sewer systems, water collection systems, and other designated Municipal infrastructure.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid class D driver’s license with Z endorsement
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Heavy Machinery certification or equivalent experience considered an asset
- Previous working experience and knowledge in construction practices
- Ontario Good Roads training considered an asset
- Experience and knowledge in vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance techniques
- Ability to operate a snow plow, road grader, other heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools safely and efficiently
Pay
Rate of Pay: Band 5, $26.01 - $35.12
Schedule
Full-Time, 40 Hours per week, availability to work evenings and weekends as needed, in addition to sharing on-call duties
