About the role

The Township of North Huron is seeking a Permanent Full-Time Roads Operator to assist with the operations of the Public Works Department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of public works related tasks in both rural and urban settings within the Township of North Huron.
  • Repair and maintain municipal roads, sidewalks, parking lots, culverts, storm and sanitary sewer systems, water collection systems, and other designated Municipal infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid class D driver’s license with Z endorsement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Heavy Machinery certification or equivalent experience considered an asset.
  • Previous working experience and knowledge in construction practices.
  • Ontario Good Roads training considered an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge in vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to operate a snow plow, road grader, other heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local regulations and safety protocols.

Skills

  • Proficient in heavy machinery operation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: Band 5, $26.01 - $35.12 per hour.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
