Road Mechanic - Level 1

About the Role

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and make advanced repairs at customer locations. This role aims to minimize equipment downtime by working on a variety of makes, models, and equipment in challenging remote locations. Our fleet varies by location but primarily includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty lines locations may feature large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas-related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on equipment at customer locations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Work in a safety-focused environment with changing priorities.
• Operate flexibly in fast-paced conditions, including remote locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 1-2 years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment, or specialty lines equipment (e.g., large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil/gas equipment).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (CDL may be required in some locations; minimum age of 21 may apply).
• Ability to provide mechanic’s tools of trade.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, including troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Physical demands include bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors as required.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) may be required based on location.

Pay

Base pay range: $21.38 - $29.39 per hour. Starting rate may vary based on factors such as location, education, training, and experience.
