RNG Process Engineer

About the role

The Process Engineer – RNG will work primarily on industrial biotechnology and renewable energy projects. The candidate shall have experience surrounding the design and operation of renewable natural gas facilities including knowledge of carbon intensity modeling (GREET), digester feed handling, anaerobic digestion, biogas purification, and handling of digestion discharge streams and all related applicable engineering codes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares process flow diagrams and mass and energy balances.
  • Analyzes performance of existing operating facilities and develop interventions to optimize or improve performance.
  • Reviews Process and Instrumentation Diagrams working with internal and 3rd party engineering resources.
  • Determines pathways and plans to improve facility reliability and uptime.
  • Participates in HAZOP and PHA studies on behalf of facility ownership.
  • Able to handle multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
  • Able to interface directly with project managers, engineers, 3rd party engineering firms, EPC firms, construction personnel, operations personnel and other project stakeholders relative to the overall success of the project or facility.
  • Liaise with Upstream, project developers/operators, and consultants on Clean Energy RNG project investments.
  • Ability to remain flexible, work with a dynamic team, maintain excellent organization, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist operations with troubleshooting activities and replacement of equipment or spare parts.
  • Support compliance of off-take pathways by monitoring critical instrument health and ensuring accurate reporting of production numbers.
  • Drive safety culture by ensuring Process Safety Management and Risk Management Program compliance.
  • Travel to operating sites 20-50% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University, 3-5 years of related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred chemical, process, or mechanical bachelor’s degree.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Database and Project Management software, Mechanical, P&ID, and Electrical engineering design and concepts.
  • Solid experience with AutoCAD Design software.
  • P&ID experience is strongly preferred.
