RN, Wound Care Specialist (Full-Time, Day Shift)
About the role
Provides care to medically complex patients in collaboration with the physician in a specialized acute care setting. Works within scope and experience and works autonomously and has authority, responsibility, and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of wound, ostomy, and continence care program throughout the inpatient care areas.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a resource for wound care management, including identification, assessment, treatment, and prevention.
- Provides specialized consultation on wound, ostomy, and continence issues for patients, families, nursing and medical staff.
- Serves as a consultant in the management of patients with draining wounds, fistula and tubes.
- Serves as a consultant for the treatment of patients with altered skin integrity due to pressure necrosis, drainage or incontinence.
- Works with physicians and nursing staff to provide updated information regarding wound care.
- Conducts rounds on all patients with wound/pressure ulcers and pressure injuries on an as needed basis.
Requirements
- Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred Relevant clinical nursing experience: Preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Wound care certification: Preferred with plan to achieve in determined time period
- Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
