This position is a work-from-home role serving Hematology Oncology of Indiana in Indianapolis. Candidates must be located in the Eastern Time zone.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls regarding patients, using nursing assessment skills to determine urgency and direct calls appropriately.
- Consult with Head Nurse and/or physician to resolve patient problems or direct calls to the appropriate person.
- Maintain a daily log of incoming calls and chart decisions made.
- Pull patient charts to accompany messages for nurses and doctors.
- Discuss with physicians or nurse practitioners the steps necessary to ensure proper patient care.
- Review and discuss abnormal labs or tests with physicians to determine appropriate action and chart as needed.
- Handle hospice and home health agency inquiries, documenting physician decisions regarding requests.
- Contact emergency rooms when patients are directed there, providing diagnosis, explanation, and physician contact information.
- Process prescription refill requests according to company procedures.
- Work at any company location as needed to meet business demands, including overtime with sufficient notice.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Nursing degree.
- Active RN license in the state of employment.
- Current CPR and BLS certifications.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed.
- Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting.

- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Pay
$24.83 - $46.12 per hour.
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime and weekend shifts may be required based on location hours and operational needs. Travel is less than 25%.
