About the role

River Place Behavioral Health, a service of Ochsner Health System, offers state-of-the-art psychiatric care for adults dealing with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health issues. Located in LaPlace, Louisiana, this facility is conveniently situated 20 minutes west of New Orleans and 40 minutes east of Baton Rouge.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families.
• Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed appropriately.
• Accurately administer medications and document controlled substance medication administration.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately.
• Communicate with physicians about significant changes in patient status.
• Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Coordinate activities of the unit as directed.

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment.
• One year of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use settings.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (available upon hire).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Benefits

This is a temporary assignment for 13 weeks, paid at a flat rate of $55 per hour. The shift is full-time, nights, and includes every other weekend. There is no coverage for travel stipends or reimbursements.
