RN - SWAT - Part Time - Dayshift

About the role

The SWAT (Skilled Workforce Adaptable Team) RN at Meritus Medical Center serves as a critical resource across inpatient units, providing high-level, flexible, and responsive nursing care. This role is ideal for nurses who are confident in their clinical skills, enjoy variety, and excel in fast-paced, high-acuity settings.

Responsibilities

• Float among various units including critical care, medical-surgical, step-down, and emergency areas to provide immediate and expert clinical support.
• Respond to rapid responses, codes, and urgent patient care situations in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for diverse patient populations.
• Aid in complex admissions, discharges, and transfers to maintain safe staffing and efficient patient flow.
• Serve as a mentor and resource to staff nurses, promoting clinical excellence and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and quality/safety standards.

Requirements

• Education: ASN or higher required. BSN or higher preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 - 5 years as an RN in an acute care setting required with at least 2 years in Critical Care, Emergency Room, or equivalent experience required.
• Licensure/Certification: Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in the Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse license from that state that is designated as “Compact” or “Multi-State Privilege.”
• Professional Certification: Additional job requirements include Basic Dysrhythmia and Procedural Sedation competency within one year, TNCC within 2 years, NIH certification, Violence Prevention or CSI training, IO insertion competency, procedural sedation including pediatric section annually, Maintain ICU/ED and pediatric competencies as set for within the organization.

Qualifications

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Additional job requirements include Basic Dysrhythmia and Procedural Sedation competency within one year. TNCC within 2 years, NIH certification, Violence Prevention or CSI training, IO insertion competency, procedural sedation including pediatric section annually, Maintain ICU/ED and pediatric competencies as set for within the organization. Strong team work ethic while also able to work independently with minimal supervision or direction. Ability to work in stressful environments while maintaining a professional attitude in communication with staff, medical providers, and other members of the team. Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must process high level of organizational and communication skills. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality.
