RN – Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)

About the role

The G52/G53/G54 Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Cleveland Clinic provides exceptional, evidence-based care to patients requiring acute perioperative management or experiencing complex post-operative complications. Our multidisciplinary team of highly skilled nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals collaborate to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patients' conditions.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plan of care to achieve planned and expected outcomes.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
• Provide patient and family education with consideration of cultural issues and other special concerns.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocols.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• One-year of current acute care RN experience (military RN experience may be considered).
• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Qualifications

• Physical Requirements: Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $35.50
Maximum hourly: $55.60

Schedule

Day/Night Rotation: 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
Every other weekend and holiday rotation required.
