RN – Surgery

The surgical unit provides a wide range of services, including vascular procedures (interventional treatments, AV fistula creation, bypass surgeries), general surgery, gynecology, endocrine, orthopedics, urology, and pain management, ensuring high‑quality, compassionate care for every patient.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform circulating functions, including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care before, during, and after the procedure.
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, and equipment for use.

Minimum qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the AHA or American Red Cross within six months of hire.
• One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extensive periods.
• Medium work: exerting 20–50 lb occasionally, 10–25 lb frequently, and up to 10 lb constantly to move objects.
• Occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 lb; ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing more than 75 lb periodically.
• Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Schedule

Days shift from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with on‑call requirements.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50 – Maximum hourly: $55.60. The range reflects anticipated new‑hire compensation and does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
