About the role
The Nursing Supervisor (RN) at NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals, Medical Behavioral Hospital of Clear Lake, Texas, plays a crucial role in overseeing the nursing department and ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Planner, director, and evaluator of total patient care
- Assists in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit
- Affirmative assessment of patient’s condition based on observation and/or interview of patient, physician’s diagnosis, laboratory findings, and other pertinent information
- Preparation of nursing care plans consistent with assessment of patient’s condition and physician’s treatment plans
- Direction of non-professional personnel in implementing nursing care plans, and providing guidance and demonstrating appropriate methods to correct deviations from established standards
- Making nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees and the needs of the patients
- Evaluation of patient’s response to nursing care and modification or revision of treatment plans, or contacting physician’s as circumstances require
- Rendering professional nursing care including administering medications, and initiating and maintaining intravenous fluids according to hospital policy and procedures
- Understanding the pharmacology and recognizing the side effects of medications administered
- Performing lab draws and reporting findings to appropriate personnel
- Performing both complex and routine treatments as prescribed by physicians or as warranted by patient’s condition
- Making regular rounds of assigned patients independently and with physicians
- Observation and evaluation of patient’s symptoms, progress, and reactions to treatments and medications
- Taking corrective actions as indicated
- Identifying problems and guiding personnel to their solutions
- Communicating with other hospital departments, as necessary, to resolve operational problems and make the most effective use of hospital
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN preferred)
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas
- One year of nursing experience required
- Prior experience in nursing education and/or psychiatric and acute care setting is preferred, but not required
