RN Shift Supervisor
The RN Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor plans, controls, and executes the nursing services required by the residents. Supervises the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements, ensuring the residents receive the highest quality of care at all times.
Together with the Nursing Director, the RN Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor plans the operation of nursing services and the provision of emergency support requirements for tour of duty. Plans the coordination of nursing activities for tour of duty in line with medical needs, physician instructions, and the general nursing care plan. Coordinates the activities of charge nurses to ensure proper care of residents. In conjunction with medical staff, adjusts the care plan to meet emergency medical needs. In the absence of superiors, the RN Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor assumes total responsibility for operating decisions required by the circumstances of the moment. Takes responsibility for managing emergency situations as they develop. Ensures presence of appropriate relief staff to assume responsibility prior to leaving the facility. Ensures notification of resident's personal physician if there is a significant change in the condition of the resident or if the resident requires immediate medical care.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold a current state RN license and be a nurse in good standing.
- Must meet all applicable federal and state licensure requirements.
- Absolutely must have the ability to supervise and instruct others.
- Attention to detail, good follow through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks are preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility is preferred.
