RN Staff - DeKalb Geriatric Psych - FT/PRN (Sign on bonus offered for FT)
About the role
Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work. Assists in coordinating semi-annual disaster drills. Oversees departmental quality data and inputs information accordingly. Plays a primary role in Chest Pain and Stroke accreditation.
Responsibilities
- Directs, organizes, and assigns work.
- Assesses, monitors, and educates on patient care.
- Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
- Uses established principles of delegation and supervision to direct the activities of all licensed and non-licensed care givers and support staff in the delivery of patient care during their assigned shift.
- Ensures optimal delivery of patient care and appropriate use of available resources using independent judgment.
- Aids in Chest Pain and Stroke accreditation.
- Supervises compliance with overall nursing practice standards of the specialty area (Reports to Department Director).
- Supervises compliance with standards during assigned shift (Reports to House Supervisor).
Requirements
- Associate's degree in nursing required. Bachelors degree preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of clinical experience, Charge Nurse experience preferred.
- Licensure as a registered nurse.
- Ability to communicate professionally at all times with patients, families, other departments within the facility as well as outside agencies.
- Specialty certification recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in the applicable area of practice.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing. Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Two years experience in applicable specialty area.
- Licenses/Certificates: Licensed by Alabama Board of Nursing. Current BLS, ACLS certification.
