Qualifications
- Education: Education required to qualify for license as a registered nurse. B.S.N. preferred.
- Experience: To qualify as an RN III, must have 12 months experience within the last three years within the specialty area. Clinical experience must enable the applicant to demonstrate clinical competencies, including demonstrating EKG rhythms by exam, within probationary period.
- Licenses/Certificates: - Current California Registered Nurse License
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through AHA required
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification required - Unit Specific: Surgery & Emergency Department: Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certificate through AHA required
Medical-Surgical, Orthopedic, Telemetry Units
- Must have and maintain national certification in medical-surgical care or critical care nursing.
Classification as RN III
To qualify as an RN III, must have 12 months experience within the last three years within the specialty area. Clinical experience must enable the applicant to demonstrate clinical competencies, including demonstrating EKG rhythms by exam, within probationary period. Classification as RN III in one specialty does not apply if transfers to another specialty area until requirements are met in new specialty.
