About the role
Provide quality nursing care, education, treatment and support to patients, staying attuned to the needs of their supporters as well. Serve as a patient advocate as they strive to have their health care needs addressed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for physician consultation
- Take medical history and vitals
- Conduct patient testing
- Monitor results and ongoing patient observation
- Assist physician in special procedures to include minor surgery
- Follow up with patients to identify learning style and needs, provide test results and appropriate education regarding medications, treatment plans and aftercare instructions, while promptly addressing their questions and concerns
- Effectively utilize EMR for charting, charging, retrieval of orders, scheduling, etc.
- Inputs, retrieves and interprets data from patient charts (paper and EMR) in a timely manner
- Effectively communicate, display a professional and positive attitude towards patients, their families and staff, especially when addressing a difficult situation
- Participate in continuing education and nursing education activities both within and outside the network
- Accountable for professional development within scope of care as defined by law
- Dependable, demonstrates flexibility while prioritizing duties, and utilizes time efficiently in the completion of assigned duties
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Associate's degree (or equivalent experience) required, with a bachelor's degree preferred
- Required Licenses: Registered Nurse, Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio
- Required Skills: Previous nursing experience preferred, Electronic medical records experience (preferably EPIC) preferred, Excellent communication and teaming skills required, Basic Life Support certification required
