RN- Senior Behavioral Health

About the role

The Senior Behavioral Health (SBH) unit is an 10-bed facility. The SBH Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to adult geriatric patients with conditions like Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Responsibilities

• Completes psychiatric nursing assessments on each assigned patient.
• Identifies and documents patient needs based on both subjective and objective data.
• Initiates and documents a nursing care plan, including nursing diagnoses.
• Documents long and short-term goals on the nursing care plan.
• Implements and documents appropriate interventions on the nursing care plan.
• Communicates patient concerns and behavioral changes to appropriate personnel.
• Maintains teaching needs for patients, families, and significant others.
• Maintains clinical competence in providing care to all patients.
• Aids in a smooth transition between shifts.
• Demonstrates responsible decision-making and professional judgment in patient care.
• Complies with required documentation in a timely manner.
• Utilizes the nursing process in the provision of care.
• Practices within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and Health System policies, procedures, and standards.
• Demonstrates teamwork through effective collaboration.

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice in Arkansas.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Greater than 6 months experience as a Registered Nurse required.
• If less than one year experience, must obtain a BSN degree within 4 years of hire.
• Certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills

• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in the nursing process.
• Knowledge of psychiatric nursing practices.

Schedule

This position operates on a standard 8-hour shift schedule.
