Responsibilities

• Affords appropriate and accurate assessment of the patient based on their medical condition.
• Displays knowledge of ordered medications and administers them according to prescription.
• Provides care that is appropriate to the patient's condition and age, including basic self-care activities.
• Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates its effectiveness; involves the family as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to apply nursing knowledge to perform treatments and provide services.
• Communicates and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs tasks requiring technical and manual skills.
• Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families, and communicates with social services about both hospital and post-discharge needs.
• Promotes cost-effectiveness and efficient use of resources, including supplies, linen, and charge items.
• Prioritizes patient care effectively and efficiently.
• Promotes patient safety by minimizing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with healthcare.
• Engages in lifelong learning relevant to the nursing profession.

Specifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in current unit or in specialty area.

• Licensure: RN; BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

• Training: Preferred/Desired minimum of a graduate from an accredited nursing program.

• Special Skills: Computer literacy.

• Preferred/Desired Certifications: ACLS/PALS specialty certification.
