RN school nurse

Responsibilities

• Administers OTC and prescription medications
• Provides basic first aid
• Conducts CPR training for staff
• Manages healthcare needs such as Asthma, Diabetes, and Epilepsy
• Develops and maintains relations with parents and stakeholders in the schools
• Documents in Power School and keeps medical information updated
• Reviews and updates immunization and health records at the school

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in the state of practice
• Graduate of an accredited School of Registered Professional Nurses

Skills

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Ability to stand and walk for extensive periods of time
• Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds
• Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms
• Ability to manage work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with irregular working hours

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This role involves physical demands including standing and walking for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and maintaining dexterity and coordination. The incumbent must be able to respond to visual and auditory alerts in a timely manner. The work environment may include irregular hours and high-stress situations.
