Responsibilities
- Plans, directs and coordinates the Risk Management and Compliance Program to minimize the risk of personal injury to patients, visitors and employees reducing exposure to liability or litigation.
- Maintains a written compliance plan and evaluates its effectiveness; ensures all required elements of a compliance program are addressed.
- Develops and applies standards to evaluate a hospital’s performance in conducting risk management activities designed to identify, evaluate and reduce the risk of patient injury associated with care and services.
- Investigates risk management/compliance issues within the facility and participates in Root Cause Analysis of internal error reports.
- Supports and coordinates facility risk assessments, root cause analysis, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and other investigations.
- Demonstrates expertise and participation in Performance Improvement team facilitation, leadership and membership.
- Ensures that confidentiality is provided by the Risk Management and Compliance Program.
- Develops policies and procedures to establish guidelines for the organization, based on analysis of risk management and compliance issues.
- Supports and encourages error reporting throughout the organization through a nonpunitive error reporting system.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in risk management within a healthcare setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Risk Management, or related field required.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing risk management frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a results-driven environment with high visibility.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Able to lead projects and initiatives to improve risk management processes.
- Experience in preparing detailed risk reports and presentations for senior management.
- Knowledge of current industry trends and regulatory changes in risk management.
- Capability to provide training and guidance on risk management practices.
