The Apheresis RN will be responsible for plasmapheresis, photopheresis, stem cell collections, LDL apheresis, RBC exchange, and white cell depletions. This role requires flexible availability to various sites, includes pediatric, on-call and weekend assignments, and expects autonomous nursing practice consistent with ANA Standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform plasmapheresis, photopheresis, stem cell collections, LDL apheresis, RBC exchange, and white cell depletions.
• Provide flexible coverage across multiple UC San Diego Health locations, including pediatric, on-call, weekend, and holiday assignments.
• Exercise autonomous nursing care, assessing and providing appropriate nursing actions based on competence and professional expertise.
• Operate highly specialized apheresis equipment, manage complex procedures, and maintain close patient observation.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, problem‑solving, and effective communication in a fast‑paced environment.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teamwork while maintaining patient‑centered, empathetic, and respectful interactions.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Current RN license issued by the State of California.
• BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
• Minimum one (1) year of recent Therapeutic Apheresis RN experience, or comparable infusion, vascular, ICU, emergency department, or other procedural/acute‑care RN experience within the past six months.
