About the Unit

Mount Carmel Grove City Labor and Delivery/Mother Infant has 9 labor rooms, 4 triage rooms, 4 PACU bays on L&D, and 18 private rooms on Mother Infant.

  • On Labor and Delivery, you will care for new moms through labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period, care for newborns in their first few hours of life, prep, circulate, and recover cesarean section patients, and in rare cases, support moms experiencing pregnancy loss at different stages.
  • On Mother Infant, you will care for new moms and babies after recovery on labor and delivery, help with bonding, breastfeeding, and newborn care, provide patient teaching, and discharge moms and babies once ready.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practice.
  • Assist providers with patient assessment, examinations, and treatments.
  • Perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision, including setup of procedures.
  • Administer medications under provider direction, following organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Assist in emergency situations under provider direction.
  • Educate and explain procedures, diagnoses, and disease processes to patients and family members.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and completely.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation and supervision of the patient care team.
  • Basic computer skills; prior experience using an EMR for charting preferred.
