About the Role

As a Burn Unit Registered Nurse (RN), you’ll play a vital role in the healing journey of patients with a variety of burn injuries. With stays ranging from days to weeks, you’ll build meaningful relationships and witness powerful healing journeys. Partnering with a skilled team that’s deeply committed to this unique population, you’ll restore comfort and healing—caring for patients like family and improving lives every day. Your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn, whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition and environment to recognize changes, manage pain, and ensure safety throughout their care journey
  • Perform expert procedures and medication administration—including pain relief and fluid therapy—deliver advanced wound care and dressing changes, monitor responses, and act swiftly to promote healing and comfort
  • Educate and support patients and families with compassion and clarity to confidently navigate recovery and make informed decisions
  • Collaborate with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to provide seamless, patient-centered care tailored to each individual’s needs

Requirements

  • Advanced Burn Life Support (must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date)
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date)
  • Associate Degree, Registered Nurse Diploma, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification

About the Workplace

HCA Florida Blake Hospital is a 380+ bed hospital located on a thirteen-acre campus by the Gulf Coast beaches in Bradenton, FL. We are the only state-designated Level II trauma center in Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto Counties and have received verification by the American College of Surgeons. Our services include 24-hour emergency care, open-heart surgery, burn care, cancer care, joint replacement, and inpatient rehabilitation.
