RN / Registered Nurse - Bilingual in Spanish

About the Role

As a Center Medical Specialist - Registered Nurse (RN), you will perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability. You will build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction while maintaining donor and staff confidentiality. The role involves raising donor awareness of potential hazards, providing donor education on general health, and counseling regarding unacceptable test results. You will also evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events, assess medical histories and medications for continued donor suitability, assist in employee training, and administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for donor awareness of potential hazards
• Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results
• Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
• Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
• Assist in employee training
• Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Requirements

• Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse
• Current CPR certification required
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred

• Work is performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
• Requires bending and twisting of the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
• Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
• Ability to make precise coordinated movements to grasp and manipulate objects
• Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels on rare occasions
• Occasionally walks, bends, and twists at the waist
• Light lifting of 15 lbs. with a maximum lift of 50 lbs
• May reach below shoulder height
• Hearing acuity essential
• Color perception/discrimination, near vision, and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
• Able to communicate information and ideas effectively; listen and understand information presented through spoken words
• Works independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
• Performs a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
• Relates sensitive information to diverse groups

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a plasma center
• Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
• Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
• Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers
• Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear

Pay

The estimated pay scale for the Center Medical Specialist - Registered Nurse (RN) role based in Calexico, California is $40.00-44.00 per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 4% of the company bonus pool.
