Job Summary
About the role
Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values. Provides quality nursing care to the patients in the Imaging Services department.
Responsibilities
- Initiates assessment based on the patient’s present problem/needs.
- Uses 2 patient identifiers excluding patient room number.
- Completes ongoing assessments/reassessments according to hospital policy or based on patient’s needs.
- Documents care based on standards of care and practice and/or clinical priorities for documentation.
- Participates in various levels of patient care, to include but not all encompassing:
- Responding to patients who have had a change in medical/mental status
- Starting, Removing or Replacing IV fluids
- Inserting peripheral IV catheters (also utilizing US guidance)
- Making sure patients receive captopril, metoprolol, regadenoson, and other medications.
- Monitoring patients receiving captopril, metoprolol, regadenoson, and other medications.
- Making sure patients are monitored during MRI scans with ICEDs (implantable cardiac electronic devices).
- Scheduling and/or assisting modalities procedures.
- Assisting clinical coordinator in prioritizing patient needs and workflow between departments.
- Assisting in requesting H&P for applicable procedure two days prior to the date the patient is scheduled.
- Assisting in transporting critically ill patients to and from imaging department.
- Assisting in drawing/reviewing labs needed for imaging procedures.
- Preparing medications per each physician order and labeling all solutions/medications as required by TJC.
- Sedating and monitoring patients having advanced Interventional Imaging Procedures.
- Administering cardiac stressing medications such as regadenoson under the supervision of CRNP/physician as well as monitoring the patient after administration.
- Informing and preparing patient for procedures.
- Performing follow up phone calls to patients who have had Interventional Imaging Procedures.
- Aiding in ensuring that the department is in compliance with all applicable standards by following all guidelines of TJC, HIPAA, and other appropriate agencies.
- Maintaining nursing area for compliance.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation of Accredited Nursing Program
- Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current Alabama Board of Nursing License, BLS ACLS
- Experience: Minimum of five-year clinical experience in direct patient care setting. ED/ICU/CCU Experience
- Additional Skill/Abilities: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing task frequently and quickly. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to use a computer terminal, fax machine, and copy machine. Ability to lead a group of team members on a daily basis. Willingness and able to effectively coach and mentor less experienced team members.
