About the role

The RN Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the care of patients with cardiac electronic devices, collaborating with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, advanced practitioners, and other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll, interrogate, and program patients with cardiac electronic devices in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Accurately identify malfunctions, alerts, and sub-optimal device operations and follow appropriate protocols.
  • Make programming changes in collaboration with providers.
  • Follow the nursing process in assessing symptomatic patients and providing follow-through as needed.
  • Give instructions, make follow-up appointments, or take patients to the ED.
  • Proficient in identifying cardiac rhythms, pacemaker electrograms, and operating programmers.
  • Maintain incision/wound assessments on new device patients, remove stitches/staples as appropriate.
  • Triage patients for remote alert notifications.
  • Maintain programs and document data in device management systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of various programs.
  • Real-time oversight of patients to track quality metrics and improve quality.
  • Respond to urgent/emergent clinical situations when interrogating patients in-clinic.
  • Present to physicians and other stakeholders regarding quality of programs.
  • Collaborate on quality projects with the CV Admin team.
  • Evaluate patients who are being worked-up for SICD implant to assess their candidacy.
  • Coordinate any additional testing and work-up needed prior to implant.
  • Perform assessments of patients with CID to establish and evaluate thresholds, arrhythmias, histograms, and implement any changes.
  • Evaluate individualized care needed in the outpatient setting.
  • Provide timely and appropriate clinical advice and interventions through direct patient contact and telephone contact.
  • Arrange all appropriate medical therapy and testing under the guidance of MD/APPs.
  • Review and evaluate medication according to abnormal rhythm episodes and notify MD/APP of abnormalities.
  • Document findings and interventions in the patient's medical record.
  • Participate in assessment of CID replacement or device malfunctions including final testing/assessment prior to procedure.
  • Ensure the patient’s home monitor is functioning and able to provide EGMs and data for documentation to providers.
  • Ensure the patient understands any changes in their location and to call us with any new arrhythmias, shocks, or changes in the appearance of their site.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse state of New Hampshire or valid compact license.
  • 3-7 years related experience.
  • Critical care experience preferred.
