About the role
At Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida in Orlando, you’ll do more than practice exceptional pediatric nursing — you’ll help build the healthiest generations of children and shape the healthiest workforce in health care. Nemours Children’s is investing deeply in its people, programs, and community, with a $300 million expansion that includes a new hospital expansion, surgery center, and administrative building. Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit provides advanced, family-centered care for up to 28 critically ill infants, children, and adolescents up to age 20, and is part of a rapidly growing critical care program with advanced capabilities including CRRT and a nurse-led PICC team.
Responsibilities
- Implement a family-centered patient care model with advanced critical-thinking, compassion, and autonomy.
- Use evidence-based guidelines to make informed clinical decisions; assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient-centered care.
- Interpret complex patient data and respond quickly in dynamic situations.
- Partner across disciplines to achieve the best outcomes and advocate for patients and families while upholding the ANA Code of Ethics.
- Engage in governance councils, committees, and improvement initiatives.
- Create a therapeutic environment built on compassion and trust; support wellness, reduce suffering, and promote healing for children and families.
- Respect diversity across culture, identity, values, and beliefs.
- Participate in research, inquiry, and continuous improvement; teach and mentor peers, students, and families.
- Support readiness, education, and lifelong learning for patients and staff.
- Use resources wisely to ensure safe, high-quality, cost-effective care; contribute to policies, standards, and practice improvements.
Qualifications
- ASN required.
- Active Florida or multistate RN license (required).
- National certification in clinical specialty (preferred).
- Minimum six months RN experience (required).
- Within 30 days of hire: American Heart Association BLS and PALS.
