Job Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing: Required
• Completion of an approved Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) program: Required
• Minimum three years of scrub and circulating experience in an acute care operating room: Required
• Annual surgeon competency review: Required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR): Required
• Professional Liability Insurance: Required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Preferred

Essential Functions

• Provides comprehensive nursing care throughout the perioperative process.
• Assists the surgeon during operative procedures within the RNFA scope of practice.
• Performs patient assessments and develops individualized nursing care plans.
• Maintains accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
• Educates patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions.
• Adheres to infection prevention, sterile technique, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
• Participates in emergency response and perioperative patient management.
• Affords assistance with orientation, education, and mentoring of staff.
• Collaborates effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Utilizes departmental resources efficiently while supporting quality improvement initiatives.

• Associates must receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable.
