About the role

Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Adventist Health Twin Cities has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical and outpatient services. Responsibilities

  • Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.
  • Functions as Scrub Technician when needed.
  • Cook up and manage, provide and delegate patient care.
  • Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice, and promoting cooperation among the health care team.

Requirements

  • Education and Work Experience: Graduate of a school of nursing: Required Six or more months of relevant OR experience: Required
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice: Required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required within 3 months of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required within 3 months of hire Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS: Required AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required

Essential Functions

  • Aids in reducing noise level of nursing unit.
  • Participates in Lean Daily Management practices.
  • Shows a commitment to co-workers.
  • Works as a team to assure all patients have their needs met.
  • Maintains patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.
  • Documents are clear, concise, and legible.
  • Delivers a clear, concise report.
  • Completes assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager.
  • Follows infection control guidelines.
  • Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups.
  • Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.
  • Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate person.
  • Provides information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel.
  • Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations.
  • Accurately administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures adhering to patient's rights.
  • Implements and/or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education.
  • Assists in the development and education of new staff members.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Completes education, training, and competencies for department specific skills.
  • Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow.
  • Affirms all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.
  • Utilizes department resources appropriately.
  • Minimizes incidental overtime.
