About the Role

Provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Requirements

  • Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (multiple accepted formats listed in posting)
  • Registered Nurse Compact License or Florida RN License
  • One (1) year of RN work experience

Additional Certifications

  • ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for RNs administering chemotherapy.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op, and Specialty Procedural areas.
  • PALS required for Pediatric areas (except NICU). Newly licensed RNs have 6 months to obtain PALS if coming from a non-pediatric background; otherwise, 30 days.
  • Certification in Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced) through National Credential Center or AWOHNN for Labor & Delivery RNs.

RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of RN independent practice (excluding orientation) and ACLS/BLS certifications.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive hand/arm movements (80%).
  • Moderate climbing, running, and sitting (40-60%).
  • Frequent lifting/carrying of patients (35+ lbs) and non-patient items (0-75 lbs).
  • Frequent pushing/pulling of non-patient items (0-75+ lbs).
  • High exposure to biohazardous waste, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, hazardous chemicals/medications, and needles/sharp objects (80%).
  • Moderate exposure to cytotoxic chemicals, dust, gas/vapors/fumes, and wet/slippery surfaces (60%).
  • Moderate exposure to potential physical assault, moving mechanical parts, and magnetic fields (40%).
  • Frequent use of computer monitors and keyboard entry (80%).
  • Frequent auditory and visual acuity requirements (80%).
