RN - PACU

We're looking for a full-time PACU RN to join the team at our Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center. The PACU RN will assist in providing high-quality care during the pre-op and post-op phases of the patient's visit.

Responsibilities

• Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria
• Document all findings in patient files
• Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort
• Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
• Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care
• Other responsibilities as needed or assigned

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted NYS RN license
• Minimum of 2 years previous PACU or critical care experience required
• Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients, and peers
• Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping flow to reasonable time frame in post-operative care
• Specialized knowledge, skill, and abilities in perioperative nursing
• Capable of decision-making when applicable

37.5 hours per week
