We're looking for a full-time PACU RN to join the team at our Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center. The PACU RN will assist in providing high-quality care during the pre-op and post-op phases of the patient's visit.
Responsibilities
- Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition
- Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria
- Document all findings in patient files
- Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort
- Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician
- Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
- Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care
- Other responsibilities as needed or assigned
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted NYS RN license
- Minimum of 2 years previous PACU or critical care experience required
- Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients, and peers
- Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping flow to reasonable time frame in post-operative care
- Specialized knowledge, skill, and abilities in perioperative nursing
- Capable of decision-making when applicable
