RN – PACU

About the role

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) cares for post-surgical patients as their anesthesia wears off. In this role, you will assist Anesthesia in the pre-operative area with regional blocks, large populations of total joints, and same-day discharge. Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and families with culturally appropriate materials.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of current acute care RN experience (military RN experience considered).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Critical care experience.

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or negligible to 10 pounds constantly.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

• Days: 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
