About Us - Orthopedics

Located on the fourth floor of the Tower at Freeman Hospital West, a 29-bed unit providing post-operative care to adult patients following Orthopedic trauma, head injury, and scheduled joint or spine surgery. We provide a patient-centered approach to helping patients return to their best by coordinating efforts with our therapy team to help ensure a successful recovery. Our focus is on building a team-centered work environment where compassion is key, patient safety is paramount, and you will have the ability to make a difference in the lives of your patients and their families.

What You’ll Do

  • Independently performs systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families;
  • Plans and implements appropriate interventions;
  • Evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner;
  • In the provision of safe and effective care.

Requirements

  • Current Missouri Registered Nurse License or Current Registered Nurse License from a Compact State. If a Compact License is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
  • If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification preferred.
  • ASLS preferred, but not required.
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 60 days.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 365 days.
  • RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification preferred.
  • ASLS preferred, but not required.
