Responsibilities

  • Practice guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics.
  • Record patients' medical history and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical equipment; administer treatment and medications; assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
  • Establish or contribute to a care plan, including administering medication, managing IV lines, providing therapies, observing and recording patient status, and consulting with physicians.
  • Teach patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment and home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and therapy.
  • Direct and delegate care tasks to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides as appropriate.
  • Precept new hires and students, assisting them in completing competency skills.
  • Collect health data systematically, prioritize based on patient needs, and involve family in the process.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care plans that are family-centered, developmentally and age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.
  • Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient’s condition and develop evidence-based plans of care for continuity.
  • Implement interventions, initiate treatments, medications, and emergency measures based on standing orders, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide nursing care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
  • Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and document observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
  • Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to enhance patient outcomes and cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
  • Evaluate personal nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, and policies; maintain current knowledge in nursing practice.
  • Integrate ethical principles into practice and enhance cultural and diversity awareness for specific populations.
  • Collaborate with peers and other healthcare providers to foster professional development and quality practice environments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
  • Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care; identify and implement changes in nursing practice using evidence-based research.
  • Participate in and apply evidence-based research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
  • Design and apply research to support integration into practice and evaluate clinical, educational, and managerial data.
  • Plan and deliver patient care considering safety, effectiveness, and cost, utilizing resources efficiently.

Requirements

  • Required: RN Operating Room Circulating experience.
  • Required: 1 year of RN experience for all Float Positions.
  • Required: >10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience.

Qualifications

  • Required: Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5 or more years of Registered Nurse experience (including direct patient care or indirect RN roles) at the time of hire.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN).

Licenses and Certifications

  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Required: State and/or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Arizona upon hire.
  • Preferred: National certification for unit-specific patient population.
