(RN) / Operating Room (OR)

Travel Operating Room (OR) RN position in Las Cruces, NM with Mountainview RMC. Start date ASAP for a 13-week assignment.

Schedule

• Days: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Friday
• Call required: split among OR RNs, averaging 7 calls in a 6-week period
• Weekday call: 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend call: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Holidays required
• Option to work up to 48 hours per week
• Maximum 1 week of RTO (requested time off)

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety, documentation, workflow coordination, and sterile field support during surgical procedures
• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties (General, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Robotics, Urology, Hand, Podiatry) in a Level III Trauma facility
• Coordinate and manage patient care throughout the intraoperative phase
• Perform patient assessment and advocacy
• Prepare for surgical cases and manage equipment and supplies
• Handle documentation, specimen management, and medication administration
• Coordinate multidisciplinary team activities
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, first assistants, and ancillary staff
• Maintain sterile technique, regulatory compliance, and adherence to evidence-based practices
• Respond to changing patient conditions and surgical case requirements

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as an OR RN
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience in General, Orthopedics, OB/GYN, Robotics, Urology, Hand, and Podiatry surgery required
• Fingerprinting required for all NM travelers

Work Environment

• Scrubs provided and laundered by the hospital
• EMR systems: Medhost, PICIS
• No floating required
