Fairview Lakes Medical Center provides award-winning care to the communities northeast of the Twin Cities. We are a Level IV trauma center, providing life-saving treatment to the seriously ill and injured 24 hours a day. Specialty services are available on-site in heart care, cancer care, childbirth, orthopedics, pediatrics and more. Serving patients of all ages and cases including general surgery, orthopedic, podiatry, spine, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, ophthalmology and endoscopy.

• Averages 20 OR cases and 10-30 Endoscopy cases a day
• 80th percentile ranking for Patient Satisfaction
• Endoscopy/GI department has 2 procedure rooms to serve both outpatients and inpatients for colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and EGD procedures

Schedule

This Operating Room Nurse position will be working casual.

Responsibilities

• Assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act
• Coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate
• Facilitate patients in a 5 suite OR department; set up, circulate and organize O.R. rooms for a multitude of Surgical Services (Gen, Robot, ENT, Gyn, Urology, Ortho, etc.) and the GI/Endoscopy unit
• Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes
• Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of current RN OR experience
• Current Minnesota Registered Nurse License
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
