RN - Oncology/IV Therapy

About the role
We are seeking a full-time registered nurse to join our oncology and IV therapy department at Citizens Medical Center. This position reports to the Oncology and IV Therapy Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients.
- Administer cancer treatments.
- Explain treatments and answer patient questions.
- Manage side effects of cancer treatments and assist with pain management.
- Monitor patient vitals.
- Coordinate patient care with other providers.
- Support the emotional well-being of patients.
- Provide resource information for family members.
- Maintain strict HIPAA, HPI, and confidentiality standards.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Kansas Board of Nursing.
- Successful completion of Citizens Medical Center’s nursing orientation program specific to the unit prior to responsibility for patient care.
- General hospital orientation completed.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Chemotherapy certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with personnel in other departments.
- Ability to provide direction in application of nursing process, quality improvement standards, organizational and departmental goals and objectives, and the State Nurse Practice Act.

Working Conditions
- Work in an air-conditioned environment with temperatures of 65–72°F and humidity of 45–55%. When assisting with pediatric cases, temperatures may reach 85–90°F.
- Must wear hospital-provided scrub attire while on duty.
- Potential for cuts, bruises, muscle strain, and exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other diseases.
- Potential exposure to anesthetic waste gases, harsh disinfectants, sterilizing agents, high steam pressure, and radiologic environments.
Physical Demands
- Requires standing, walking, bending, crouching/stooping, and carrying when caring for patients.
- Requires sitting with repetitive motion of the hand and wrist at a desk.
- Normal vision, with or without correction, adequate for reading and computer use.
- Must be able to work closely with physicians, patients, family, and other hospital personnel.
- Works under stressful conditions and pressure due to demands of procedures and patient safety.
Schedule
7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 3 days per week with alternating weekends.
