PeaceHealth is seeking a Per Diem/Relief RN Nurse Team Lead for a Hospice House position. The salary range is $50.03 – $87.23, with the hiring rate dependent on education, training, work experience, and other factors.

About the Role

Assures professional nursing care is provided for all patients in a hospice unit according to established standards and practices. The Team Lead supports and directs staff members in providing compassionate care and services to patients and families, coordinating unit activities to ensure optimal patient care. Independent decision-making is expected in routine duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns work, plans and manages priorities, provides technical assistance, oversees staff schedules, monitors quality of work, mentors staff, and provides constructive feedback.
  • Directs patient care activities by making/adjusting staff assignments to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Supervises and assesses clinical practice, directing and delegating tasks to other team members.
  • Coordinates staffing and optimal shift scheduling.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care needs.
  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Directs and delegates care to other team members based on their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensures professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of hospital policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, and infection prevention programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Accredited School of Nursing (Required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience (Required).
  • Previous leadership experience (Preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance (Required).
  • Registered Nurse license (Required upon hire).
  • Basic Life Support certification (Required upon hire).

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and a patient/family-centered work environment.
  • Able to support and interpret Hospice philosophy, policy, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated interest in staff development.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet patient needs.
  • Basic computer skills.

Working Conditions

  • Lifting and patient handling up to 35 lbs. without assistive equipment/devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills for grasping and controlling medical equipment and performing precise procedures.
  • Frequent pushing/pulling up to 45 lbs. of force (e.g., WOW, medical carts).
  • Ability to perform hands-on CPR for at least 20 minutes using 100-125 lbs. of force (seldom or occasionally).
  • Frequent movement, including sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Exposure to biohazards, body fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment.
  • Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
