Responsibilities
- Coincides and develops patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and adheres to all established standards of practice.
- Supervises and mentors non-RN personnel.
- Serves as a resource for both staff and management in identifying and resolving problems.
- Organizes patient schedules and manages patient flow.
- Greet patients, document concerns, escort patients to exam/procedure rooms, and prepare them for physical exams.
- Conduct initial patient interviews, review medical profiles, H&P, and document in EMR/manual charts.
- Accurately document vital signs, weight, and report any abnormalities to the physician.
- Aid in specimen collection and testing as needed.
- Provide minor treatments and assist with minor procedures as directed by the physician.
- Offer education to patients and families based on their learning needs.
- Schedule patient tests and pre-certify insurance requirements as necessary.
- Answer telephone messages from patients and physician offices.
- End-of-month checks for expired supplies and restocks exam/procedure rooms.
- Maintain and clean exam/procedure rooms, and prepare them for the next patient and physician.
- Notify patients of test results and follow-up actions as instructed by the physician.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, in-service education opportunities, and participate in continuing education programs.
- Formulate and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other healthcare team members.
- Respect and protect patient confidentiality and privacy while disclosing information only for the patient's best interests.
- Show a positive attitude when interacting with physician's office staff, physicians, and fellow employees.
- Participate in and support performance improvement and risk management activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested to maintain high levels of service.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid license as Registered Nurse in CT.
- BLS Certification.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
