RN - Neonatal ICU

About the role

In this role, you will work in the Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), delivering high-quality, family-centered care to ill neonates and extremely low birth weight infants. The NICU team provides 24-hour neonatology services, evidence-based nursing practice, and advanced respiratory care, including high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide.

As an RN in the NICU, you will serve as an essential support person, interacting directly with babies, their families, and visitors to enhance the treatment experience and provide healthcare information as needed. Schedule

A caregiver in this position works a day/night rotation from 7:00am to 7:00pm or 7:00pm to 7:30am, including every other weekend and holiday. No on-call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to neonates in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• One year of experience in an acute care hospital setting (licensed military RN experience will be considered).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• NICU experience.

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay

The pay range for new hires is $35.50 to $55.60 per hour. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include applicable pay practices such as shift differentials or overtime, nor does it reflect the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package, including healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement savings account contributions.
