About the Role
This is a travel nursing assignment in a 241-licensed-bed, Level 3 Trauma Center that is a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The unit has 32 beds with an average census of 28.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy procedures, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, small bowel obstructions (SBO), and NG tube management.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone).
- Perform wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management.
- Float within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed, within scope of practice.
- Adhere to patient ratios: RN (Days 1:4-6; Nights 1:5-6; surge staffing up to 1:7-8).
- Work every other weekend and 75% of holidays.
- Be available for low census call and potential callback (up to 3:00 AM for nights, 3:00 PM for days).
Requirements
- Active RN license.
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience (first-time travelers accepted).
- Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management.
- Willingness to float within Region 3 facilities as needed.
Unit & Facility Details
- Support Staff: CNAs (1:10-11 or 1:16), LPNs (Days 1:4-6; Nights 1:5-6), receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7.
- Technology/Equipment: EMR (EPIC), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors.
- Orientation: 2 days of departmental orientation following NEO.
- Scheduling: 6-week schedule cycle; up to 6 days off (excluding holidays) may be approved, with time added to the contract if needed.
- Other Notes: Navy scrub color; free parking.
