Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Functions within the framework of the organization’s policies and procedures and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintains standards of practice and coordinates patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate from a nursing program Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Work Experience

  • No experience required; new graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
  • Nursing experience in a hospital setting Preferred
  • 1 year in a hospital setting Required for PRN positions

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current RN license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum below)

Specialty-Specific Certifications

  • Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
  • Critical Care: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
  • Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) Preferred
  • Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date; experienced ED nurses have 6 months to obtain PALS) Required within 180 Days
  • Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration Required Upon Hire
  • Pediatrics:
    • Identifies, reports, and provides appropriate protective measures for high-risk situations including abuse, neglect, failure to thrive, and potential for abduction.
    • Piedmont Columbus Hospital: PALS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
    • Piedmont Athens Hospital: PEARS or PALS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
  • Surgical Services:
    • PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU: ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
    • OR: BLS only Required
  • Women's Services:
    • Labor and Delivery: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date), NRP by end of orientation, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date
    • Mother/Baby: NRP by end of orientation
    • NICU: NRP by end of orientation
    • Newborn Admission Team (NAT): NRP by end of orientation
    • Nursery: NRP by end of orientation
    Required within 180 Days
