Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Functions within the framework of organizational policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability.
- Maintains standards of practice and coordinates patient care activities of all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate from a nursing program Required
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Work Experience
- No experience required; new graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
- Nursing experience in a hospital setting Preferred
- 1 year in a hospital setting Required for PRN positions
Licenses and Certifications
- Current Georgia State RN license or NLC/eNLC Multistate License Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
Specialty-Specific Certifications
- Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
- Critical Care: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
- Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) Preferred
- Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date; experienced nurses have 6 months to obtain PALS) Required within 180 Days
- Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration Required Upon Hire
- Pediatrics:
- Identifies, reports, and provides protective measures for high-risk situations (e.g., abuse, neglect, failure to thrive, potential abduction).
- Piedmont Columbus Hospital: PALS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
- Piedmont Athens Hospital: PEARS or PALS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
- Surgical Services:
- PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU: ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required within 180 Days
- OR: BLS only Required
- Women's Services:
- Labor and Delivery: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty must complete within 6 months of start date) Required; NRP by end of orientation; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date.
- Mother/Baby: NRP by end of orientation Required
- NICU: NRP by end of orientation Required
- NAT (Newborn Admission Team): NRP by end of orientation Required
- Nursery: NRP by end of orientation Required
