Position Summary
Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients in medical and/or surgical units in accordance with established procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients’ conditions, and develops individual care plans for patients assigned to the unit.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and visitors in accordance with hospital standards.
- Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
- Prepares patients for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
- Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business.
- Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business.
- Promotes a culture of safety by identifying and reporting patient safety events and near misses and participating in activities that improve the quality and safety of patient care.
Qualifications
- Associate degree.
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Oklahoma.
- Sufficient previous clinical experience in medical and surgical nursing.
- CPR certification.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS required within one year of employment.
- ICU and/or ER experience.
Essential Functions
- Able to adequately assess, diagnose, plan and implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient condition.
- Compliance with the attendance policy.
- Compliance with continuing and mandatory education programs.
- Possesses appropriate communication skills to practice collaborative nursing.
- Able to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and/or the patient’s condition changes.

- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively.
- Ability to understand and resolve simple to complex problems.
- Ability to understand simple to complex instructions.
- Ability to constantly walk, stand, and/or lift.
- Ability to frequently utilize full range of motion, including crouching, stooping, reaching, bending, and twisting.
- Ability to frequently lift, pull, push with assistance of one other person, the weight of the average patient.
- Ability to see and hear and distinguish color.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
