RN - Medical ICU
About the role
The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Martin North Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our compassionate and skilled team. This role involves providing direct nursing care, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, and interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off.
- Provide expert care in critical situations, serving as a patient advocate.
- Interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, enhancing their experience and supplying healthcare information as needed.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients' conditions.
- Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
- Educate patients and their families.
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program), current state licensure as an RN, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, and one year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience.
- Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN), critical care experience, and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS certification through the American Red Cross
- One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Critical care experience preferred
- ALS certification through the American Red Cross preferred

Schedule
Nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM. Primary work location at Martin North Hospital, with occasional floating to Martin South and Tradition Hospitals as needed.
Physical Demands
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
