About the Role

Utilizes the Mercy Nursing Professional Practice Model and nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care for assigned patients. Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with established guidelines of nursing practice, the goals of Mercy Health System, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics, and the Co-Worker Code of Conduct. Performs duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care using the Mercy Nursing Professional Practice Model and nursing process.
  • Maintain professional accountability for patient care delivery.
  • Coordinate patient care with other departments.
  • Uphold patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Adhere to established nursing practice guidelines, Mercy Health System goals, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a state-approved professional nurse program.
  • Current RN licensure with the State Board of Nursing or a current temporary work permit in the applicable state of practice.
  • Minimum of 3 years of RN experience.
  • BLS certification.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the time on duty.
  • Meet unit-specific physical demands, including significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance.
  • May require varied schedules, shifts, or days of the week based on patient care needs.
  • High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Physical demands include pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 40 lbs., pinching up to 10 lbs., and minimal kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
